“I really don't know how I can tell you this, but your mother had a really bad car crash, and the chance of her living is 10%“ he said.
I looked at him, blinked couple of times, then laughed hysterically.
“Hahahaha, are you kidding me?” I said.
My father wrapped his arm around me and pulled closer to him.
“I need to go back to Melbourne,” I said.
“Enshallah baba, I will book a ticket for you.” Dad said
“I need to go tonight.” I said.
“Baba ma ymdeek,” he said
I ran to my laptop, ignoring what he said.
I opened the airways website, I found a ticket at 4 AM, I booked it.
“Baba My flight is at 4 am.” I said.
“enshallah,“ he said.
I really can't wait until 4 am, it's too late, I decided to go to the airport, wait until I find a flight. I took my suitcase, went to my closet, took my clothes and threw them inside, took everything that belongs to me and threw it inside. My dad was staring blankly.
“Lily it's still too early!!!” He said
“Who said that I will wait till 4am, I'm heading to the airport right now.” I said as I closed my suitcase, I opened my drawer and took my passport.
“Lily la!!!” Baba said.
I took my suitcase and when I tiptoed out of my room, my dad pulled my case and said “I will take you to the airport,”
He took his phone out and called someone, “essam get ready we are heading to the airport right now, it's an emergency” he said.
I hopped to my father's car, and we drove off to the airport. The whole ride was silent; until my dad decided to break the silence.
“Lily, she's fine i promise,” he said.
I didn't bother to speak, I didn't want to cry. I just choked my tears back and stared blankly at the road.
We arrived, and I ran to the counter of the airways.
“Please, I need a flight to Melbourne, please,” I begged the guy.
“Wait let me check,” he said.
Suddenly I felt someone tapping my shoulder, I turned around to find that 14 years old girl, she smiled and said “may I take a photo with you?”
I just sighed and turned to the counter guy and said “please find me a flight, I really need to go,” and in no time the guards came along with my father. They asked the girl to go away, and apologized to her.
“Ms. Can I have your passport?”
I handed him the passport, and closed my eyes praying that he could find one.
“Ma'am I only found one in first class, in 5 hours, but you must pay now,” he said.
“That's fine,” I said, and took my wallet out. Before I hand him my visa, my dad gave him his credit card.
“Dad please,” I said as I took his card and gave the guy mine.
“Lily, Allah y5leek Mali 5lg,” he said and gave the guy his credit card, and said “feeh seat Thani?”
“Ee feeh, bs mo jnba,” he said.
“Mo moshkla,” my dad said.
“6ayb wain el,passport?” The guy asked.
“Byje b3d 10 dgayg bs Allah y3afeek e7jza, bdf3lk,” my dad said.
“Magdr wallah,” he said
“Allah y3afeek, mabeh yroo7 3ali,” my dad said
“Enshallah mob ray7, ent la jbt eljwaz mob 9ayer ela ely yr'9eek,” the counter guy said.
In 15 minuets, Abdulaziz came with my father's passport and luggage.
My dad paid for his seat. We sat by the gate, and I said “baba you really don't have to do this”
“You're my daughter, and I'm not willing to leave you in such a situation,” he said, “Ana '9y3tk nu9 3umri mabi a'9y3k bl bagi mnh..”
“Dad, I love you so much, I swear all of these years couldn't stop me or change my feelings towards you, I've always loved you and I will always do, no matter what you've done, you still my father and I know whatever happens to me you will always be by my side, supporting, or comforting me. You're always more than I've asked. Allah la y7rmni mnk.” I said, and hugged him so tight. I finally allowed my tears to fall and burn my cheeks. My dad was playing with my hair, until my eyes started to close slowly and I fell a sleep.
“Lily, wake up sweetie, ft7o elgate,” my dad said as he shook me.
I woke up, stretched and stood up.
I finally sat in my place, 3A.
After long 17 hours on this airplane, we finally arrived to Melbourne International Airport. When we arrived, the guards were waiting by the airplane gate. I walked with my father hand-in-hand, paparazzi were everywhere, flashes was blinding my version. We walked as fast as we could, until we finally hopped in the car, and drove off.
“To the hospital,” I said.
“Yes madam,” the driver said.
“Lily, rou7i elbait enti t3bana,” my father said.
“Baba, I'm fine,” I said, and I pulled my hair into a high bun.
“Mabi a'9'36 3laik,” he said.
We finally arrived to the hospital, before I hop off, I said “baba rou7 elbaitna, Ana aklmhom al7in yjhzoonlk '3urfa”
“Andy, please take my father to the house,” I ordered the driver.
“Mt2kda ma tbeen aje m3ak?” He said
“I'm fine,” I said and kissed his cheek. “Bye,” and I hopped off.
I walked inside, and paparazzi were also there. Ya lail.
“Please, I don't want to see or talk to anyone,” I ordered the guards. I took my phone out and called Amy (my nanny/assistant if you don't remember her) and told her that my father is coming.
When I entered the IC room, I found my mother there laying, electri wires were attached to almost every part of her body. I couldn't really get closer to her due to the glass window between us. I stared at her, and tears fell on my cheeks. I wasn't just crying cause she's in a bad situation, what made my heart ache more, that even if she didn't wake up I can't pray for her, because she's christian. it really hurts, I love her so much, I love everything about her, even though she never cared about me when I was younger, but I've always loved her. Even flaws is filling her from her head to toe, I saw her as the most perfect woman on earth. My mom was My angel. My love, my heart, my soul, she meant everything to me.
After nine days of waiting for her to wake-up. The doctor came to me and said, “I'm sorry, we cloudnt do anything.” And walked away, as like nothing happened. Like I didn't lose her forever, like it's something ordinary.
“But.. But why..” I screamed, every part of me has screamed with me, every cell, every inch. I looked at my dad, who didn't know what to do, he just extended his arms, and pulled me for a tight hug. I cried so much between his arms that misrable night.
Bsmellah 3laik yubba, e4kri rbk,” my father said, trying to comfort me.
After that day, after the funeral, after exactly 2 months. I decided to go back to Saudi Arabia, maybe not forever, but i need to, I need to stay away from anything that makes me remember her. But I couldn't, while I was packing, I took 9 pieces that she designed specially for me. Even though I wanted to stay away from anything that brings back my memories, I want to feel that she's always with me...
2 days later.. Finally.. Touch down Riyadh.
My family, were doing there best to make me feel better, but everytime I feel better, she popps in my mind and I break down, like she died yesterday.
Mom, once you were a shining ètoile to my sky
Then you disappeared and I lost my way.
The end.
Every end is a new begging they say. But for Lily, it wasn't a new begging, she didn't really move on. She just continued working, or in another word designing. Hala, joined her after she graduated, Farah is still studying medicine, Abdulaziz got married and Saleh is still in high school.
But for me Jay, It's the end of my stories. I hope you guys enjoyed my story, don't forget to comment below.
